Hi, my name is Miss Rachel Clays and I am the principal of Alive Dance School.
I have been passionate about dance since the age of 4 and I knew from a young age that I wanted to be a professional dancer. I took every class that I possibly could. These included Ballet, Tap, Modern, Street, Greek, Lyrical, Song & Dance and Drama. I took part in many shows and pantomimes throughout my childhood and this made me realise how much I loved to be on stage performing in front of an audience.
From the ages of 1618 I attended Preston Professional Dancers and Teachers of Dance College and gained a Diploma in Dance, my teaching qualifications and Higher Graded Examinations.
My first professional Dance job was onboard cruise ships working in fantastic productions shows. While on the ships travelling around the world I became Dance Captain and Adagio Dancer, I also worked at Disneyland as a Parade Dancer and Character.
I returned to the UK after 8 years of working as a professional dancer and I decided that I wasn’t ready to hang up my dancing shoes but that I was ready to pass on the knowledge and experience that I had gained in my 23 years of dancing.
Setting up my own dance school has given me the opportunity to pass on my passion for dance and to teach children and young people to dance in a fun, friendly, and professional environment.
